The forest nature trail in Rohren near Monschau takes you to a piled-up foam pile and a water-powered sawmill, inside which you can also see historical tools.
If you make an appointment in advance, you can find out how tree trunks used to be cut lengthwise into planks by the rhythmic up and down motion of a saw frame.
