For cycling and hiking enthusiasts, the apartment is an ideal starting point for many hiking and cycling tours through beautiful Eifel landscapes. Circular hiking trails in the immediate vicinity from 6 to 22 km can be found under Wanderwelt-Nordeifel/Eifelschleifen and Wanderwelt-Nordeifel/Eifelspuren. 4 stages of the Eifelsteig are in the immediate vicinity of the apartment. Cyclists will find 16 themed circular tours in the Eifel cycle loops to explore the North Eifel by bike. With the new cycle junction system, you can plan your own tours. The Eifel National Park and the nearby Olef, Urft and Rur dams invite you to take a trip. It is not far to the romantic Ahr valley or to the pretty towns of Bad Münstereifel and Monschau. Sports and leisure facilities, such as a go-kart track in Schmidtheim (8km), a gyrofoil flight on the Dahlemer Binz (8km), climbing facility on Lake Kronenburg (14 km), a game reserve with a bird of prey station in Hellenthal are not far away. Our guesthouse can be found in the idyllic village called Kottenborn, far away from transit traffic. It is located in the heart of the Eifel, surrounded by green forests, very close to the Nürburgring (approx. 5km). The special location of our guesthouse offers a lot of activities for the whole family. When hiking through the surrounding landscape you can see different local animals. For relaxation, providing you with deck chairs is a matter of course. Shelters are available for bicycles and bikes. Our partly roofed outdoor area is perfect to end a sunny day with a cosy get-together (drinks self-service). Our facilities also include a barbecue area with a permanently installed swivel grill. We would be pleased to arrange a barbecue evening for you (on advance booking for 8 persons or more). Hint: There is a small mixed-breed dog living in our house.

Our building is located in the municipality of Dahlem (North Eifel) and belongs to North Rhine-Westphalia. Due to the neighboring Rhineland-Palatinate and the proximity to Belgium, our country inn is the ideal starting point to discover all the sights of the Eifel. It is a wonderful place for people who want to enjoy nature, culture and relaxation. The surrounding area with its extensive wooded areas, river valleys and romantic landscape formations is a real treat for any nature lover.The good, fast and easy access to the A1 highway on the one hand and the wide range of recreational opportunities and leisure activities on the other make this area a magnet for both short and leisure tourists to recover from stress. Guests with a private plane can land at the Dahlem Binz airfield. Dahlem is also easy to reach by train, as it is on the Cologne-Trier line and has its own train station. The 2 vacation apartments in the lovingly restored former Schalkenmehren station building are located directly on the old Daun-Moselle railroad line. The old railroad track is now the Maare-Mosel cycle path. The vacation apartments are in a quiet and idyllic location on the outer edge of the Maar crater. As there is no through traffic, your children can play safely outside.

The Panoramablick vacation home is located in the idyllic village of Nideggen-Rath on the edge of the Eifel National Park. From here you have good access to the footpaths and cycle paths. The small ducal town of Nideggen is only 1.6 km away.
