The cycle tour starts at the Nideggen National Park gate.

The tour starts in Nideggen at the National Park gate. Parking spaces are available here. You roll down the path to Abenden on the Rur and reach the RurUfer cycle path. On car-free paths and always along the water, you cycle to the Obermaubach reservoir and via Winden to Kreuzau. The route now climbs gently uphill and through a section of forest to Stockheim. Now the Börde experience begins. On the left, there are always far-reaching views of the plain. From Ginnick, the route becomes a little hillier. After Embken, you reach the Antonius Chapel surrounded by a botanical feature. Limestone comes to the surface here and provides a habitat for orchids and gentian. Continue through the pretty village of Muldenau. An information board on Ulmenstrasse explains the history of the village and a curious name change. A gentle climb takes you through a tranquil stream valley to Thuir and Thum. In Boich, turn left and cycle uphill to Rath. The climb is worth it, as Rath offers a final highlight with a view of the Rhine valley and the Siebengebirge mountains before you enter the village. You then enjoy a leisurely ride back to the old town of Nideggen with its many refreshment stops and back to the starting point.
Other starting points in Zerkall and Obermaubach
