RKru2 - Fraukircher Weg 9.5 km

Directions:

Walk down Bahnhofstraße, turn right at the traffic circle into "Alte Chaussee" and then left into Kirchstraße to the church. Walk down Kirchstraße and turn right at the "Rathaus Café" into Hochstraße. Past the Römerbrunnen fountain and cellar, the path leads onto Große Gasse, where you will see the Alte Propstei. It was built at the beginning of the 18th century and bears witness to the close ties between the village of Kruft and the Maria Laach monastery. At the Große Gasse, keep right and then walk a short distance to the left along the "Alte Chaussee" before turning left into Wellinger Weg. Follow this out of the village past a small chapel. At the next fork in the road, keep right and follow the path through the fields. The path leads past a small airfield and rejoins a tarmac path shortly after a refuge. From there, continue straight on to the right along the country road (L120) to the Fraukirch pilgrimage church. Back from the detour, decide to take the right-hand path at the fork with the refuge. Follow the path straight ahead via the crossroads at the Bannerhof farm to a fork with a hut where several paths meet. Take the left-hand path past the Margarethenhof back towards the village. You pass the fork in the path where you turned off on the way there and the small chapel again. Now take the same route: Wellinger Weg, right onto "Alte Chaussee", right onto Grosse Gasse and directly left into Hochstraße back to the church.

Old Provostry KruftThe municipality of Kruft is closely linked to Maria Laach Abbey. As early as 1093, it was documented that Kruft was part of the abbey's estates. It was in this context that the Old Provost's House was built, which was completed at the beginning of the 18th century.

Pilgrimage church FraukirchAccording to the regional Genoveva legend, Count Palatine Siegfried built the church in thanksgiving for the salvation of his wife Geneoveva by the Virgin Mary.
