Fantastic views from the keep of the highest castle in Rhineland-Palatinate


Nürburg castle is famous not only for the nearby legendary racetrack. The castle ruin is a remnant of a castle complex, the oldest part of which originates in the 12th century. The keep can be climbed and offers a wonderful panoramic view over the Hocheifel-Nürburgring region and the |Grüne Hölle - Green Hell of the Nürburgring.

    Kirche St. Kastor und Katharina in Kehrig

    The parish church of Kehrig, consecrated by Karden, and the tithe belonged to the Castor monastery in Karden until 1802. 1656 owned the church of Kehrig, which after de Lorenzi from the 13th / 14th. It is said to have originated in the 18th century, three altars. The main altar was consecrated to Castor, the side altars to Mary and Peter. Today's parish church, which was built between 1869 and 1872 by the Düsseldorf architect Pickel, is consecrated to St. Kastor and St. Katharina.

    The variety of insects is overwhelming: at least 1000 beetle species and over 400 skin and double wing species. The large butterflies with 544 species were recorded almost completely, a third of which are on the Red List of Rhineland-Palatinate!
