Synagoge Saffig

Until the mid-19th century, the small Jewish community presumably used a private prayer room. In 1858, a synagogue building was erected on Klöppelsberg; the women attended services from a wooden gallery. After the interior was destroyed during the National Socialist era, it was restored in the mid-1980s. The interior, measuring six by ten meters, is covered by ribbed vaults resting on corner and wall pillars. The women’s gallery has been reconstructed. For several years now, Jewish services have once again been held regularly in the building.
