The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is idyllically situated in the vineyards above the village of Platten.


Beautiful Lady Chapel, built in 1860, an eye-catcher. A relief of the Sorrowful Mother of God can be seen, in front of it a small wooden table with flowers and candles. The square is nicely arranged with a resting bench next to the chapel.

    Bitburger Beerfountain

    Located in front of the brewery and next to the restaurant, Simonbraeu, is the Bitburger Beerfountain. The fountain, which was built in 1937 by the Mayener sculptor, Professor Burger, originally stood on the Marktplatz, the town square. After WW II, it was erected to its present location.

    Vogelsang IP

    In September 2016, the new visitor’s and exhibition centre, the Forum Vogelsang IP, was opened. The two main exhibitions are the documentation of the National Socialist period, “Destiny: Master Race. National Socialist Ordensburgen - Both Fascination and Crime” and the adventure exhibition “Wilderness Dreams” organised by the Eifel National Park Centre.

    Eifel-Blick - "Perdsley" in Monschau-Rohren

    From the Perdsley the visitor looks at a height of about 400 meters above sea level in the direction of Monschau in the picturesque Rur valley. The name is made up of the terms "Perd" for horse and "Ley" for rock.
