Katholische Kirche St. Gertrud

This was or is probably the most famous Drees in the Gerolsteiner Land, even if mineral water no longer bubbles here. The Kyll valley has one of its narrowest places here, the Kyll itself is only a few meters wide. Since the Devonian limestone and dolomite rocks are heavily fissured and karstized underground, there were and still are sufficient transport and ascent routes for the mineral water.    

The parish church of St. Stephanus in Nachtsheim from 1971 can be seen from afar due to its unique roof construction and its modern construction.

The Stadtkyll war memorial was erected in 1934. The memorial was designed by Professor Emil Fahrenkamp, an architect and university lecturer who was head of the art academy in Düsseldorf from 1937 to 1946. It commemorates the 30 soldiers from Stadtkyll who lost their lives in the First World War. Their names are engraved on the sarcophagus in the memorial crypt.

These are monuments to Roman Celts. Or Celtic Romans? They lived in the premodern industrial area of the East Eifel.

A natural monument of extraordinary fascination: a narrow gorge with metre-high rock faces, cool and dark. Cracks and crevices, weathered and overgrown with mosses and lichens. Anyone walking through this eye of a needle in the sandstone is walking through a 200-million-year-old seabed that harbours many secrets.
