Kurfürstliches Schlößchen
Bad Bertrich
In 1787, Elector Clemens Wenzeslaus had the “Small Kurhaus” built according to plans by the court architect Andreas Gärtner in the style of the early French-inspired classicism.
The stylish castle with the representative rooms and the then 14 bathing cabins became the elector's favorite seat and summer residence.
The building has two identical facades, as well as a middle risalite in pilaster architecture. Outside the middle risalite, you can see a mansard roof that is drawn deep into the attic floor and is crowned by a six-sided slate clock tower. In addition to the passage in the central axis, from which two stairs led up to the ballroom on the first floor, the bath cells were originally located on the rustica-square ground floor. The center of the building is the large ballroom with the social rooms on the side. This originally housed the elector's living quarters.
The rooms were completely restored in 1987 according to the original findings and have been certified as cultural assets worthy of protection since 1990.
