Experience the Eifelsteig in Winter—on shorter stages from Aachen-Kornelimünster to Einruhr

When crisp winter air awakens the senses and the Eifel landscape reveals its tranquil side, it’s the perfect time for enjoyable days of hiking on the Eifelsteig. On shorter stages, you’ll hike at a leisurely pace from Aachen-Kornelimünster to Einruhr on the Rursee—with plenty of time to pause along the way and enjoy the special atmosphere of the season.

Historic alleyways in Kornelimünster, the vast expanse at the edge of the Hohe Venn, the idyllic half-timbered village of Monschau, and the tranquil forests of the Northern Eifel accompany you along the way. It is precisely the proximity to the Hohe Venn that gives the route a particularly charming character in winter: Under the right conditions, the landscape here may even be draped in a blanket of white from time to time. Whether it’s glistening hoarfrost, fog over the valleys, or a light dusting of snow—every weather condition turns this hiking trip into a unique experience of nature.

To ensure you can enjoy the wintry landscape without a care, we recommend sure-footedness, as well as sturdy, well-treaded hiking boots and weatherproof clothing. This way, you’ll be well-prepared even in cool temperatures and changing weather and trail conditions.

Thanks to luggage transfer and pre-packed lunches, you’ll have your mind free for what matters most: being out in nature, making your way step by step, and warming up at your lodging in the evening.

A winter offering for anyone who wants to combine outdoor activity, serene landscapes, and short, manageable stages.
