The 5-day hike without luggage is offered all year round. We reserve rooms for you in the accommodation establishments. They will take care of your luggage transport to the next day's destination.
Arrival is possible every day of the week, including Sundays and public holidays.

    1. Day 1: Arrival in Gerolstein

      Arrival and overnight stay in the fountain town of Gerolstein.

      1. Day 2: Hike Gerolstein - Hillesheim (approx. 20 km)

        After breakfast you start the hike

          At Gees, a spring with a very unique mineralization bubbles up in a sandstone enclosure.

          The European Example town of Hillesheim has a host of attractions to offer: The historical area of the town, the town fortifications from the 13th century, the market places, the leisure area "Bolsdorfer Tälchen", St. Martin's Church.

      2. Day 3: Hike Hillesheim - Steffeln (approx. 19 km)

        On day 3, you hike along local hiking trails and the volcano trail in the direction of Birgel and Lissendorf to Steffeln.

          Historische Wassermühle Birgel

          The historic Birgel watermill is a unique mill experience centre and the largest in Europe. The four mills are still in operation today: mustard mill, grain mill, oil mill and sawmill.

        2. In the center of a plateau stands a round, white building with a slate roof and a small bell tower. Above the dark brown double door, small round windows are set at regular intervals. The chapel is surrounded by a green meadow. On the right and left, there are deciduous trees. In the background, a hedge encloses the area.

          Kapelle Wahlhausen

          The votive chapel Wahlhausen is located about 1 km outside the village on a hill visible from afar. From there you have a wonderful view over the Gerolsteiner Land.

      3. Day 4: Hike Steffeln - Gerolstein (approx. 19 km)

        Finally, you hike from Steffeln to Gerolstein on the Vulkaneifel trail "Vulkanpfad". Along the way, you will pass the special sights of Eichholzmaar, Steffelner and Aueler Drees and the Rother Kopf volcano with its millstone caves. Shortly before Gerolstein, you reach the Gerolstein reservoir and walk past the Auberg to the Gerolstein spa gardens.

          Aueler Drees - Steffeln

          The Aueler Drees is a natural mineral spring with CO2-containing water with a very high content of iron and manganese. A great opportunity to experience the fresh water of a mineral spring in the wild.

          The rocks “Hustley”, “Munterley”, “Drohende Ley”, “Große Kanzel” and “Auberg” shape the cityscape from afar and form Gerolstein’s landmark. The most famous peak of the Gerolstein Dolomites is the "Munterley" - with an altitude of 482 meters.

      4. Day 5: Departure / alternative hike around Gerolstein

        You decide whether you want to leave after breakfast or go on another hiking tour around Gerolstein. We can recommend the Gerolstein Celtic Trail or the Rock Trail.
