At an altitude of 470 metres above sea level, you look south-east over the historic castle town of Reifferscheid. The village includes the castle complex with the outer castle and the castle ring as well as the valley settlement at the foot of the castle.
The wayside chapel replaces the former local chapel of the Hatzdorf deserted settlement northwest of Neuerburg. It houses a sandstone relief of St. Nicholas from 1811 and a replica of the statue of St. Nicholas from the old chapel on the gable (the original is in the church in Neuerburg).
About 50 m northwest of the mountain top of the 560 m high mountain "Gänsehals" stands the Gänsehalsturm, a 74 m high radio tower, which also serves as a viewing tower.
The old parish church of St. Cyriakus in Niedermenig is a Romanesque church from the 12th century. In the second half of the 15th century a Gothic chapel was added to the choir.
