Welcome to the website Vulkaneifel in Nickenich For your vacation or a short vacation, we offer you three well-equipped holiday apartments in the middle of the Laacher See volcanic region, on the “Deutsche Vulkanstraße” in the immediate vicinity of Laacher See with numerous excursion and hiking opportunities. In our annex we have built 2 new 50 m² apartments. Both apartments are on the 1st floor. The beautiful, light-flooded apartments are spacious and ideally suited for 2-4 people. The apartments have a spacious bedroom with box spring bed, wardrobe and space for a travel cot. A large kitchen with a fully equipped new kitchen, dishes and cutlery for 4 people, 4 plate hob with oven, dishwasher, extractor hood, refrigerator, coffee maker, kettle and toaster. In the living area, a cozy couch and a flat-screen TV invite you to relax. One apartment has access to a sunny south-west balcony. The spacious bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink. Our third apartment is behind the historic castle gate. This is about 45 m² and has a kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom and is also on the first floor. Our apartments are NON-SMOKING APARTMENTS! **A home in the Vulkaneifel** Welcome to Daun. Location & neighborhood of the vacation apartment: The vacation apartment is located on the city limits of the district town of Daun. Everything you need for a perfect stay is within walking distance: grocery stores, cozy cafés, a variety of restaurants, a cinema and charming stores are waiting to be discovered by you. Do you like hiking? The extensive hiking trail networks can be reached on foot from the front door. Unforgettable tours to the volcanic craters of the Dauner Maare and countless other hiking trails can be reached in no time by car. The apartment is the perfect starting point for your vacation in the Vulkaneifel. The district town of Daun itself offers you numerous cultural activities on site as well as countless excursion and hiking opportunities in the region. Arrival & connections: The top floor apartment is located in a three-party house. Free parking spaces are available in the street. For your further mobility on site, the bus station in Daun is less than 5 minutes' walk away. Buses leave from there to the nearest larger towns such as Gerolstein or to many excursion destinations and hiking starting points in the surrounding area. How to get there: By car from the direction of Cologne (north): Follow the A1 to the end of the highway (near Blankenheim). From there, continue on the country road, which will take you to Daun via Hillesheim. From Koblenz or Trier (south): Follow the A48/A1 to the Vulkaneifel highway junction. From there, take the road towards Daun. The apartment is located on the outskirts of Daun and is easily accessible by car. By train: The nearest train stations are Gerolstein station (20 km) and Wittlich main station (34 km). From there you can take a cab or a bus to Daun ZOB. Daun ZOB is only 350m from the apartment. Other train stations nearby are Koblenz main station (75 km) and ICE station Montabaur (90 km).

Welcome to the village station of the 20th century. The accommodation in the cultural monument "historical station Üxheim-Ahütte" is a museum station that opened in 2023, exactly 50 years after the cessation of railway operations. Here, time has literally stood still, as if the last passenger just departed, the last ticket was sold, and the last cargo was loaded. The station can now be experienced in its original form, just as it was during the days of railway operation. Various guest rooms are available in the former service areas, some with historical furnishings and reconstructed original wall colors. However, they are equipped with the comforts of today: All rooms include a shower/WC (new from 2023), TV, and Wi-Fi. For those who prefer older media, there is also a wealth of railway literature from long-gone railway times. In the former service rooms, the guests' culinary needs are catered to today. The specialty of our station gastronomy is pancakes as well as homemade cakes & tarts. Common areas in the station gastronomy can be made available for guests during operating hours upon request (no private beverages & food allowed. Sale of beverages & food by station staff). As leisure activities, the crime puzzle "The Disappearing Suitcase" and/or a crime role-playing game with dinner can also be booked upon request.
