Day hike (11 km) on the EIFELLEITER in combination with public transport (Adenau-Hohe Acht)

A wonderfully comfortable bus ride to the highest point in the Eifel, the Hohe Acht, with fantastic views from the Kaiser Wilhelm Tower and then a leisurely downhill ride to the tranquil town of Adenau.

First, take bus no. 815 from Adenau's market square to the Jammelshofen/Kaiser-Wilhelm-Turm junction.

Just behind the Hohe Acht mountain hotel, the route takes you just 1 km to the highest point in the Eifel, the Kaiser Wilhelm Tower on the Hohe Acht. The tower offers a spectacular panoramic view of the marvellous volcanic Eifel landscape. Pause for a moment and enjoy, let your gaze wander into the distance and take a deep breath. The climb to the tower is rewarded with marvellous views over the Eifel landscape. The imposing basalt formations at the foot of the tower bear witness to the volcanic past of this hilltop.

The path continues through marvellous forest passages of pure nature. The Eifel ladder leads steadily downhill to the lively town of Adenau. Shortly before the destination, the Adenau Way of the Cross, a cultural monument and place of contemplation, impresses with its uniqueness.
Once you reach your destination, the historic town centre of Adenau with its picturesque half-timbered houses and cosy restaurants and cafés is the perfect place to end your taster tour.
