The wild and romantic Wolfsschlucht is the perfect destination for an outing. The Tönissteiner Bach, which originates just past the village of Wassenach, first flows past idyllically situated trout ponds, then plunges several meters straight down shortly thereafter, and finally winds its way wildly through volcanic ash to the Brohlbach.

The primeval forest atmosphere of the Wolfsschlucht, with its impressive rock formations, small wooden bridges, and picturesque waterfalls, invites young and old alike to explore the area.

    Kapelle St. Ottilia in Kirchwald

    The St. Ottilia chapel is somewhat hidden on the footpath to the Riedener Mühle, right on the edge of the forest. The very neat chapel was built in 1897 by a certain F.W. Hilger, for the salvation of his eyesight.
