Wolfsschlucht

Wassenach

The wildly romantic Wolfsschlucht invites you to take a trip there. The Tönissteiner Bach, which rises just beyond the village of Wassenach, first flows past idyllically situated trout ponds, then plunges several meters straight down shortly thereafter, and finally winds its way through volcanic ash to the Brohlbach.

The primeval forest atmosphere of the Wolfsschlucht, with its impressive rock formations, small wooden bridges, and picturesque waterfalls, invites young and old alike to explore the area.

    The castle has been destroyed many times, most recently in the Palatinate War of Succession in 1689 by French troops of Louis XIV, like most Eifel castles. Today only a ring wall and a basement tower with shooting ranges are preserved from the former, probably over 1000 years old Burganlage.

With numerous exhibits such as legionary helmets, motorbikes or cinema chairs, the town's history comes alive. The historic town wall is integrated into the rooms of the museum in the Kulturhof and is partly visible.
