The WestwallHistoric construction in the middle of the small Eifel village Scheid.  


The Westwall, with a total length of 630 km, is an extremely elaborate construction. The Westwall was built as a fortification and line of defense against enemy attacks from the west between 1936 and 1940.
The line here in Scheid belongs to the type "1938" and should stop up to 20 t heavy tanks. The Westwall consists of two concrete foundations running parallel to each other, on which cross foundations with 4 concrete bumps are mounted perpendicular to the enemy direction.

    Observation tower Zemmer-Rodt

    The Fidei look-out is located in Rodt near the sports field. Located at 395 meters above sea level, it offers visitors a view of the top platform across the Eifel, Mosel, Hunsrück to neighboring Luxembourg. The wooden tower is about 20 meters high and offers a magnificent view.Various Nordic Walking tours start at the tower.
