Black cormorants, great crested grebes, grey herons, ducks and, with a bit of luck, red and black kites as well as the black stork - the Urft Dam in the Eifel National Park is an El Dorado for birds. Here they can breed in peace and raise their young. The bird watching station at the Urft reservoir is an excellent place to observe the birdlife. Two high-quality telescopes are available for this purpose.

The Beilsturm is an outwork of the old town fortifications of Neuerburg from the 16th century. From the top, newly designed observation platform, there is a beautiful view over the medieval Neuerburg.

This Eifel view on the "Simonsley" (415 metres above sea level) offers you an impressive panorama above the Rursee in a south-east to south-west direction, with the "Kermeter", a core area of the Eifel National Park, catching your eye.

The former castle chapel on the small hill in Esch still reminds us of the Knights of Esch. Between the 11th and 16th centuries, the Knights of Esch were among the most important noble families in the Wittlich area. In addition, Esch is the birthplace of Eberhard von Esch, the founder of the pilgrimage site Klausen.
