Initiated by the environmental group "Rittersdorf is blooming" and implemented as a community project with the local community, the Südeifel Nature Park, and the flood team of Caritas Westeifel, it impressively combines sustainability, innovation, and community spirit.
The modern bench is the first of its kind in the Bitburger Land and far more than just a place to linger. Equipped with solar panels, it offers the ability to conveniently charge mobile devices via USB connection or wirelessly through QI technology. The offering is complemented by integrated Bluetooth speakers and a WLAN hotspot – a combination that appeals to both locals and visitors.
Another special feature of the bench is that it can be quickly removed from the flood area in case of high water.
Especially in a time when relaxation and digital connectivity are equally important, the solar bench creates a space that connects both. Hikers can rest here, recharge – in both the literal and metaphorical sense – while enjoying the nature of the Südeifel. At the same time, the project stands for lived cooperation and the willingness to shape the place sustainably and with a future-oriented approach.
