From here, shortened stages of the Eifelsteig stages 10 and 11 open up, which exemplify what makes this region so unique: narrow paths through ancient beech forests, sweeping views over the Daun maars, volcanic rock formations that can be felt underfoot and, time and again, places where natural and cultural history overlap.

There is time to really take in the landscape: the interplay of open land and forest, the special light over the maars, the cool air in the valleys where volcanic activity once raged.
