✔4 days✔approx. 74 km total ✔from/to Wittlich
Your hiking trip along the Lieserpfad includes four varied daily stages ranging from 15 to 23 kilometers, with plenty of room for what really matters: your route, your pace, and your very own personal experience.
The starting point is the idyllic source of the Lieser River near Boxberg in the Vulkaneifel. After checking in at your lodging in Daun, a hiking taxi will comfortably take you to the source near Boxberg—you alone decide when to set out. This way, your short getaway begins without any rush and entirely at your own pace. Upon arrival at the source of the Lieser, you’ll set out on the first stage—about 15 kilometers long—back to the charming Eifel town of Daun.
On the second day of hiking, the trail takes you about 18 kilometers further—for example, to the romantic castle town of Manderscheid, where you’ll spend your second night. Along the way, you’ll encounter quiet forest paths, impressive views, and plenty of spots to pause and reflect. It’s the perfect opportunity to consciously unwind and fully immerse yourself in nature.
The nearly 23-kilometer stage from Manderscheid to Wittlich—known for its traditional pork-curing—is considered “the most beautiful hiking trail in the world” by hiking guide author Manuel Andrack. This section requires some hiking experience, as it has an alpine character in places and demands sure-footedness and a head for heights. Those who take on the challenge will be rewarded with spectacular trails and breathtaking scenery. You’ll spend your third and final night in Wittlich.
From Wittlich, the gateway to the Eifel and the Moselle, you’ll finally continue on a leisurely hike to Lieser or Bernkastel-Kues. The choice is entirely yours. Your hiking adventure ends on the Moselle, filled with diverse impressions, moments of tranquility, and the satisfying feeling of having forged your own path.
Bookable no later than 7 days before the start of the trip.
For trips taking place over holidays or long weekends, fixed accommodations with transfers to the respective stage start points are offered.
