Through large areas covered with juniper trees and around the “Kalvarienberg”, or cavalry hill, near Blankenheim, the trail continues towards Hillesheim - home of the Eifel crime thriller.
An absolute highlight of the tour is the continuously growing Dreimühlen waterfall near Nohn, a natural spectacle of a very special kind. The trail continues through the wonderful Kyll valley and over the top of the Rother Kopf, and ends in the natural spring town of Gerolstein, which is known around the world for its “Gerolsteiner Sprudel” sparkling water.
This offer is available for booking all year round. The best time to travel is from April to November. During the winter months, routes may be restricted due to weather conditions. Also, the shorter days should be taken into account with regard to the distance covered for each stage.
In the cellar of one half-timbered-house from 1726 you can find the spring of the river Ahr.
The Helenenquelle on the Kyll Cycle Path near Gerolstein Town Hall is a popular resting place for cyclists and hikers. The fresh mineral water comes from a depth of approx. 90 m and can be drunk free of charge from April-October from the brass tap. Here it is worth taking a break and the park is ideal for a small picnic in nature.
