Description

Water and forest in transition

Between water, forest and history: the circular tour around Schevenhütte and across the Wehebach dam combines nature experience and nature knowledge. Over twelve kilometers, it leads through an area in which water, forest and landscape history are closely interwoven.

The route runs through the Omerbach valley, over wooded heights and along the dam wall, which still shapes the image of the region today. Stations along the way invite you to take a closer look: at the hidden network of mushrooms, the traces of the beaver or the birds in the floodplains. Geological and historical themes also play a role - from the Celtic ring wall to the wet meadows that today serve as natural water reservoirs.

The landscape looks different every season. Sometimes clouds are reflected on the surface of the water, sometimes the wet meadows turn into a sea of green.

The route is easy to walk, leads along forest and woodland paths and always offers beautiful views over the Wehebach valley. A varied tour for anyone who wants to experience the interplay of nature, water and time.

Highlights of the route

  • Wehebach dam as a technical structure and tranquil landscape element
  • Celtic ring wall as archaeological evidence of early settlement
  • Habitats for animals and plants - from beavers and kingfishers to mushrooms, dragonflies and wetland species
