Description

Monastery Route

Rushing waters, bright blossoms, fields of grazing cattle and incredible views – the "Klosterroute" around the textile-manufacturing town of Monschau is the perfect way to spend a day in nature. Landmarks like the mighty Engelsley and Teufelsley rocks, the wild and romantic Rur valley, the meadows around Kalterherberg and the Perlenbach valley dot the trail. A vast array of flora and fauna – unparalleled elsewhere in Germany – adds a special touch.

And by the way, if you’re hiking the trail in spring, the daffodil slope at Reichenstein is a must-see. As these heralds of spring turn their faces toward the sun, the embankment becomes a sea of blooms: an incredible sight.
