The Gerolsteiner Star Park Trail is an entertaining, adventure-filled themed trail with QR code stations that offer fascinating information, stories, and eye-opening moments—perfect for exploring and marveling.
The Sternpark Trail leads from the Gerolsteiner Brunnen Visitor Center to the Gerolsteiner Sternpark—or in the opposite direction—and combines nature, science, and corporate history into a truly memorable experience. Following in the footsteps of founder Wilhelm Castendyk and chemist Carl Fresenius, the trail offers a journey of discovery through the fascinating Vulkaneifel region. Along the way, you’ll learn what makes Gerolsteiner mineral water so special, how its volcanic origins shape its mineral content, and how the company has evolved since its founding. After a guided tour through the Gerolsteiner Experience World, the story continues outdoors: Simply scan the QR codes on the stars and immerse yourself, step by step, in the world of Gerolsteiner and the exciting geology of Gerolstein.
The trail, which starts at the visitor center, first leads to a sweeping view of the Gerolstein dry maar. It continues to the Sarresdorf lava flow, which reveals the power of past eruptions. The route then leads to the Buchenloch Cave, an important site where early human traces have been found. A lookout point offers a sweeping view of the Auberg and the Rother Kopf before reaching the striking Munterley Plateau, which impresses with its panoramic view of Gerolstein. Finally, the route ends at the new Gerolstein Star Park. The Star Park brings the themes of nature, health, sustainability, and water to life.
