Wir sind die Pilzfamilie

Hello, I am Pilzino – and I am part of a large mushroom family. Beneath your feet, our fine mycelium is at work. You can hardly see them, but they help the forest every day.

Because we mushrooms clean up: We decompose leaves and wood until they turn back into soil. And from this soil, new plants can grow. This keeps the forest floor alive.

And some of us can do even more. We secretly work with trees: Underground, our mycelium connects with the roots. Then we exchange water and nutrients. Although no one sees it, it keeps the forest healthy.

Fun Fact About Mushrooms: Choose a mushroom along the path or at the edge of the forest and take a close look at it. What color is it, what shape does it have, how big is it – and where does it grow? Perhaps you will even discover fine white threads in the soil or on the wood. Please leave the mushroom in place. This way, it can continue to grow, spread spores, and remain for the next children to enjoy.
