The Sterenbachsee is picturesquely situated between Wittlich and Wengerohr and, surrounded by trees, is a popular local recreation area for walks or as a running route for guests and citizens. The reservoir is 400 meters long and a maximum of 160 meters wide. It is crossed from north to south by the Sterenbach stream, whose outflow is first led through pipes under the highway and later flows into the Lieser. Swimming in the lake is prohibited. Fishing is permitted. Fishing licenses are available from the tourist information office in Wittlich on presentation of a federal fishing license.
