Rittersdorf
Rittersdorf Castle has remained virtually unchanged since its construction and offers a striking glimpse into late medieval and early Renaissance domestic life. The approximately 700-year-old moated castle is located three kilometers north of Bitburg in Rittersdorf. It houses a small local history museum and, in the Gothic Knights’ Hall, the registry office (branch) of the Bitburg-Land municipal association. It also features a privately operated restaurant serving fine country cuisine. From an art-historical perspective, the castle is particularly known for its elaborately designed archway.
In the restaurant’s stylishly furnished rooms, you can enjoy fine country cuisine and first-class wine.
The castle grounds feature numerous parking spaces with a fine gravel surface. The castle is accessible to wheelchair users, although the castle courtyard is paved with cobblestones.
Rittersdorf Castle is located along Hiking Trail No. 79 in the Südeifel Nature Park as well as along the Rittersdorf Fitness Trail.
