Eifel-Blick - "Ruitzhof" in Monschau-Kalterherberg

"Ruitzhof" belongs to Monschau-Kalterherberg and lies at 570 meters above sea level. Since the Second World War, the hamlet, which was first mentioned in a document in 1205, has been a German exclave: the farmsteads are surrounded by Belgian territory. Ruitzhof used to belong to the Reichenstein monastery. Many of the houses in Ruitzhof are still surrounded by the well-known protective hedges, which were impressively described in Clara Viebig's novel "Das Kreuz im Venn".
