Ich bin der Waldrand

Sometimes I’m not really seen at all – yet I am more than just the edge of the forest.

I am the forest edge, diverse and never boring, as trees and meadows meet here. I am a very special place because many things mix here: forest and meadow, light and shadow, protection and openness.

For animals, I am the perfect meeting point. Some like to hide in the dense bushes, others flutter between the trees or climb in the crowns. Birds and insects feel particularly at home here, but animals like deer also come by. And sometimes traces in the grass reveal who has been wandering here.

Animal detective: Look around very carefully. Do you spot an animal or one of its tracks? Think about who might live here – and who might just be visiting.
