Hinkelsmaar
Bettenfeld
A small paradise with rare plants can be found in the Hinkelsmaar.
The Hinkelsmaar belongs to the Mosenberg volcanic group, which erupted about 80,000 years ago. The Hinkelsmaar represents the most recent eruption. It is surrounded only by a relatively flat wall, which used to be filled with water. The crater has a diameter of about 100 meters and a crater depth of only about 10 meters. After rainfall or winter, water stands in the crater, the mid-marsch.
Parking: Visitors should use the Hinkelsmaar/ Kratersee parking lot or the parking lot at the fishing pond. Simply follow the appropriate signs coming from Manderscheid via the L16 before entering Bettenfeld.
