It is neither a castle as we imagine it, nor does the building have anything to do with the Vikings: The meter-high rampart of fallen stones is the remains of a millennia-old fortification on the edge of the Ferschweiler plateau.
The church was rebuilt in 1762 in Antweiler. Most recently it was completely renovated and restored in the early seventies for the 1000th anniversary in 1975.
Significant canon houses include, for example, Stiftsstraße 34 and Stiftsstraße 26/28, the so-called double bay house, Gothic stepped gable, Renaissance half-timbered bay window, oldest house in the city
