A short, relaxed circular route that combines historical traces, idyllic scenery and small humorous highlights. The route passes the former Protestant school, witnesses to pre-industrial mining and several memorials from two centuries - ideal for an evening stroll.
The Volcano Trail (13) connects the eastern and central parts of the Volcanic Eifel in a series of wide loops; it is a hiking trail that winds through the Eifel’s recent and most recent volcanic activity.
From the romantic Pyrmont Castle, the route runs along the Elzbach stream to Eltz Castle.

The trail starts at the church of Schleidweiler. The route leads along typical Eifel Houses. The path runs along the open terrain before it enters the forest. Past the old sandstone pits, the natural trail leads through an untouched part of the forest down to Daufenbach. The small town even has its own train station. Parallel to the Kyll the path leads over the cycle path to the district Mühlenflürchen. Take a deep breath before climbing the ascend. You will get rewarded with untouched nature with former quarries. The hidden waterfall at the end of this quiet woodland invites you to linger. The last stage will take you across the Eifelsteig, back to Schleidweiler.
