A hiking trail for families in the Eifel
The nature and stamp trail in Monschau-Rohren invites children and families to go on a short hike. The trail leads through the forest for around 4 kilometers and offers the opportunity to discover nature and history at various stations. Small wooden houses with stamps and stamp pads are available at 12 stamp stations. Children can collect the motifs in their own notebooks. This is a fun way to accompany the hike. Summi's stamp trail starts in the middle of the village at the information board (Retzstraße 3). From there, the trail leads along the nature trail, past the sawmill and ends at the Lourdes grotto.
The stamp booklet
The stamp booklet is available at the starting point in the center of Rohren. For larger groups or to be on the safe side, the booklet can also be downloaded in advance and printed out yourself. Each station in the booklet consists of a double page: on the left there are short explanations about trees, animals or special places, and on the right there is space for the stamp. In this way, the children learn interesting facts about the forest, its inhabitants and the history of the place along the way.
Number code and treasure chest
Four stamp houses are marked with an asterisk in the booklet. The children will also find a number there that they have to memorize. At the end of the trail, the combination of these numbers gives the code for a treasure chest. Inside is a small reward for each child. Most of the rewards are lovingly handmade by the Rohrener and Widdauer Landfrauen and the Landmädels, for example small crocheted bees.
Themes along the way
The stamp trail is based on the existing nature trail from 1988, which already has many information boards on native trees, shrubs, animals and the history of the village, and the stations pick up on this content, for example:
