Neujahrs-Lamawanderung (Gruppentour)

eifelnomaden

1:00 PM

Welcome, new year! Nature has come to rest, the days are short and cold. Our llama winter hikes on New Year's days are an unforgettable experience for young and old. With the llamas - which often hum quietly and comfortably - we stroll leisurely through the nature reserve.

Hike

Directly below the Schönecker Burgberg live our woolly llamas, who are definitely better equipped for a hike in winter than we humans. This is also where our very special New Year tour starts: A winter hike with our llamas, which we conclude in a hearty way with stick bread and punch in the llama pasture.

After getting to know our four-legged tour companions, we set off. We hike through the wintry Eifel landscape, enjoy the clear air, and the tranquility that our llamas radiate. We select our route depending on the weather conditions; it certainly leads right into the nature reserve of Schönecker Schweiz.

Right at the beginning, we hike down into the valley of the Altburgbach. Orchard meadows and the slender silhouettes of juniper bushes accompany us. Then we climb the ridge "Op Ischt" and enjoy the wide views on the high plateau. Later, we enter the beech forest and reach a hidden clearing. Above the Schalkenbach, we continue through the forest on narrow paths.

Soon we reach the ancient Celtic refuge, which towers above the Altburgbach on steep rocks. Then we need to descend back into the valley via a narrow path from the rocky spur. Following the Altburgbach, we reach our starting point after about three hours.

The llamas have earned an extra portion of hay! Curious, they watch us as we gather around the bright fire in the fire bowl. We grill stick bread and enjoy a warm (non-alcoholic) punch or mulled wine. Soon it will be dark outside as we sit safely under our canopy, enjoying the warmth of the fire.
