In this enjoyable discovery, only you and your guide are on the way. The approximately two-and-a-half-hour hike takes you through the forests and over the meadows in the nature reserve "Schönecker Schweiz," where we customize the exact route according to your wishes.
Llama Trekking
Our llamas graze directly beneath the Schönecken Castle on a traditional orchard. There, we get to know the animals in a relaxed manner and learn how to lead the patient and curious creatures. Then our hiking adventure in the nature reserve "Schönecker Schweiz" begins!
Right at the start, we hike down into the valley of the Altburgbach stream. Traditional orchards and the slender silhouettes of juniper bushes accompany us. We follow the Altburgbach, whose bed winds through the forest in countless bends. After a while, we discover a towering rock hidden among the mighty beech trunks: Atop it stands an ancient refuge.
Here, we face a steep ascent: A narrow path winds its way up the slope, all the way to the cliff. In the refuge, Celts hid many centuries ago when it became too dangerous out in the open plains. At this spot, we take a break for a while. Those who wish can explore the rocks. We certainly have ample time to take photos with the llamas.
A little later, we reach the plateau "Op Ischt" and enjoy the wide view all the way to the High Venn. On the slopes of the plateau, rare, protected plant species such as orchids grow from spring onwards. One last highlight of our hike is the castle ruin of Schönecken, built in the 13th century and recently restored.
Back at the pasture, we have to say goodbye to our loyal companions, the llamas.
