On this entertaining discovery, it’s just you and your guide. The approximately two and a half hour hike takes you through the forests and over the meadows in the nature reserve "Schönecker Schweiz." You can enjoy mulled wine & treats (optional) afterwards in the cozy construction trailer by the fireplace.
Hike
Our llamas graze near the ruins of Schönecken on expansive pastures. There, we take the time to get to know the animals and learn how to lead them respectfully – without petting or feeding, but with calmness and mindfulness. Then, our joint hiking adventure through the nature reserve "Schönecker Schweiz" begins.
Right at the start, we descend into the valley of the Altburgbach. Orchards line our path, and in between rise the slender silhouettes of juniper bushes. We follow the stream that winds through the forest in countless bends – always accompanied by the calm, attentive gaze of our animal companions. After a while, we discover a towering rock, hidden among the beech trees: Here stands an ancient refuge tower that the Celts once built as a retreat.
A narrow path leads us steeply up to the ridge. Upon reaching the top, we enjoy the view and take a short break. Those who wish can explore the rocks or take pictures with the llamas. Shortly thereafter, we reach the plateau "Op Ischt" – from here, the view stretches wide over the Eifel landscape all the way to the High Fens. In the warmer months, rare, protected plants such as wild orchids grow on the slopes. The hike concludes with the impressive ruins of Schönecken – a relic from the 13th century that still towers high above the village.
Back at our pasture, we say goodbye to the animals, who return to their familiar surroundings.
Those who wish can conclude the excursion with an optional mulled wine package: In our cozy converted wagon with a fireplace, it becomes warm and cozy – ideal for smaller groups of six to ten people. We serve homemade mulled wine or punch, spiced with oriental flavors, along with winter pastries and dates from Oman. In the weeks following the turn of the year, instead of sweet offerings, we provide a savory finger food selection. A very special nature experience – decelerated, personal, and unforgettable.
