Cycle up to fifty kilometers every day for five days: That’s the essence of a cycling tour through the Eifel, starting and ending in Blankenheim, where the Ahr River rises amid a maze of narrow streets.

Fresh air, sweeping views, unspoiled nature, and clear waters are your constant companions.
On the long mountain ridges and gently rolling plateaus of the German-Belgian Hohes Venn-Eifel Nature Park, everyday life feels far away. Monschau, with its unique half-timbered architecture; the charming town of St. Vith in East Belgium; and the abbey town of Prüm in the Schneifel region are all nestled in a world that awakens the senses: You’ll cycle through fragrant mixed forests, home to wildcats and red deer, across the vast moors of the Hohes Venn, and along the shores of Lake Rur, Lake Urft, and Lake Obersee.

Even the Romans drew their water from the Eifel—relics of an ancient aqueduct bear witness to this. Today, nature is reclaiming its wild terrain in the Eifel National Park, and with a little luck, you might spot beaver dams in the Alfbach Valley.

    2. Day 2: Blankenheim – Gemünd | 50 km

      • Bike Tour on Stage 4 of the Eifel-Höhen-Route

      Passing the Nettersheim Nature Center and heading into the Oleftal valley to the Kneipp spa town of Gemünd, this stage leads to the Eifel National Park with breathtaking panoramic views and along the Eifel Lake District. Near Kall, the imposing Steinfeld Abbey awaits: It is one of the best-preserved historical monuments of its kind in the Eifel and the Rhineland.

    3. Day 3: Gemünd – Monschau | 40 km

    4. Day 4: Monschau – St. Vith | 45 km

      • Bike Tour Along the 2nd Stage of the Vennbahn

      The Vennbahn is one of the longest and most beautiful cross-border railway trail routes in Europe. Starting in Monschau and leaving the Rur Valley behind, this stage winds through the unique high moorland of the Hohe Venn, repeatedly crossing the border between Germany and Belgium.

    5. Day 5: St. Vith (B) – Prüm | 40 km

      • Elevation gain: ▲ Ascent approx. 183 m | ▼ Descent approx. 207 m

      On this former railroad-right-of-way bike path, you’ll pass through two disused railroad tunnels, one of which serves as a shortcut for cyclists in the summer and as a roost for bats in the winter. In the Alfbach Valley, beavers have left their mark. Following the Prüm River, the route winds through the gently rolling countryside to the abbey town of Prüm.

    6. Day 6: Prüm – Blankenheim | 45 km

      • Bike Tour on the Prüm Bike Trail and the Valley Route
      • Elevation gain: ▲ Ascent approx. 318 m | ▼ Descent approx. 590 m
      • This stage marks the end of the “Wilderness, Water, and Open Spaces” cycling tour
      • An additional night is available upon request

      Passing the marshy source of the Prüm, deep in the forest between Ormont and Reuth, the route winds through the Wirft Valley, featuring stretches of seemingly untouched nature.
