✔6 days ✔approx. 225 km ✔from/to Blankenheim ✔through the Hohes Venn - Eifel Nature Park and the Eifel National Park ✔packed lunch
Cycle up to fifty kilometers every day for five days: these are the facts of a cycle tour through the Eifel, starting and finishing in Blankenheim, where the Ahr rises in the middle of the maze of alleyways.
Fresh air, expansive views, untouched nature and clear waters are your travel companions.
On the long ridges and gently undulating plateaus in the German-Belgian High Fens-Eifel Nature Park, everyday life is far away. Monschau with its unique half-timbered architecture, the cozy town of St. Vith in East Belgium or the abbey town of Prüm in the Schneifel are embedded in a world that opens up the senses: You cycle through fragrant mixed forests that are home to wild cats and red deer, through the vast moorland of the High Fens and along the shores of the Rursee, Urftsee and Obersee lakes.
Even the Romans drew their water from the Eifel, as evidenced by the relics of an ancient aqueduct. Today, nature is reclaiming its wild terrain in the Eifel National Park and, with a bit of luck, you may discover beaver dams in the Alfbach valley.
The tour begins with an overnight stay in Blankenheim
Castle flair and half-timbered idyll of yesteryear - the Ahrquelle is one of the town's most important landmarks. The sublime castle towers over the town and is now a youth hostel. Discover Blankenheim on a stroll through the charming old town streets with half-timbered houses.
The historical old town of Monschau at the Rur.
