✔7 days ✔approx. 260 km ✔from Euskirchen to Wittlich ✔packed lunch.
The 260-kilometre cycle tour leads from Euskirchen in the north of the Eifel to Wittlich in the south and can also be easily reached by train. This seven-day cycle tour through the middle of the Eifel is a carefree pleasure with an eBike or a good level of fitness.
The Eifel is incomparably varied - sometimes gentle river meadows, sometimes rugged rock formations, sometimes magnificent views and sometimes dense forests. The towns also have their very own character. A multi-day cycle tour from Euskirchen in the fertile plain through the mountains to Wittlich offers the quintessence of the Eifel experience. What's great for environmentally conscious cycling fans is that this trip can also be enjoyed without any horsepower thanks to good rail connections at the start and finish.
The cycle tour starts in a relaxed manner in Euskirchen and initially follows the Erft river slightly uphill. But soon, around the Kneipp spa town of Bad Münstereifel with its picturesque historic town center and probably the most comfortable city outlet in Germany, the full wildness of the Eifel becomes apparent. Deep, forest-lined valleys accompany you all the way to the alleyways of Blankenheim with the source of the Ahr. High into the volcanic Eifel, the route then leads to Gerolstein, whose Helenenquelle spring is proof of the fountain town's fame: pure mineral water.
Bitburg in the south of the Eifel is nestled in a lovely hilly landscape. The world-famous Bitburger brewery opens its doors to visitors with an experience center. The route continues through the German-Luxembourg border region, always close to the water, to the ancient imperial city of Trier with its wealth of world heritage sites. The vineyards of the Moselle accompany cyclists downstream to the mouth of the Lieser, on the banks of which lies the old market town of Wittlich.
Bad Münstereifel is a small romantic town that has grown historically over the years, with picturesque timber-framed houses and the City Outlet, with attractive shops that are worth paying a visit. You can take a break in the many cosy cafés and restaurants.
In the cellar of one half-timbered-house from 1726 you can find the spring of the river Ahr.

The Helenenquelle on the Kyll Cycle Path near Gerolstein Town Hall is a popular resting place for cyclists and hikers. The fresh mineral water comes from a depth of approx. 90 m and can be drunk free of charge from April-October from the brass tap. Here it is worth taking a break and the park is ideal for a small picnic in nature.
