Lovingly furnished, non-smoking vacation apartment in the center of Daun - Steinborn. The apartment is located directly on hiking trails / "Eifelsteig" in the immediate vicinity of the spa town of Daun and the Eifel maars. You can reach the Maare-Mosel cycle path via side roads in 7 km. The apartment has a nice living room with flat screen TV, a cozy sitting area / sofa bed. In the bedroom there is a box spring double bed, as well as a closet / sideboard with plenty of storage space. The new fitted kitchen has a ceramic hob, high oven, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, a dining table with four chairs. From the kitchen area you have access to the cozy conservatory, as well as the terrace, sunbathing lawn and barbecue facilities. The disabled-friendly bathroom has a walk-in shower, WC and 2 washbasins. The entire apartment has free W-LAN. There is a storage facility for bicycles / motorcycles in the garage. As our guests, you can also hire an e-bike for men and/or women from us (just ask us on arrival). The rental fee for the bikes is € 15 per bike per day. A large Rewe supermarket with bakery and fresh meat counter is 3 km away. 200 meters from the vacation apartment you can enjoy the Eifel cuisine in the restaurant Landgasthaus Beim Brauer. Welcome to Himmerod AbbeyIn 1135, Bernard of Clairvaux himself sent his spiritual sons, the gray Cistercian monks of Clairvaux, to the green folds by the flowing waters of the Salm. He had convinced himself of the ideal location of the valley basin between Kunowald, Salm and gentle hills.The abbey's first name "Claustrum" means island, refuge, protection and shelter. In just a few years, the monks turned the monastery into an important religious and spiritual center of the Eifel region.The entire monastery complex is still enclosed by the medieval cloister wall (14th century).The structural principle of the complex is the concentric circles (like the coat of arms) in the exterior: guest house, workshops, mill, bookshop, inn, courtyard, gardens: in the interior: Church and monastery building, cloister and quadrum. In the center is the church, which was rebuilt in the 1950s according to the model of the old building by C. Kretschmar.

Pure village life: Our castle (built in 1509) is located in the middle of the picturesque Schönecker Schweiz in the old and quiet village center of Hersdorf.Our comfortably furnished vacation apartment in the former barn is the ideal starting point for hikes and explorations of the Eifel - from the volcanic Eifel with the maars to the High Fens and Luxembourg. Guests with children are just as welcome as guests with pets. Just come and relax and unwind. We look forward to seeing you! The accommodation The vacation apartment is built into a former barn. It has a large living room with adjoining kitchen area, a fireplace, a dining area and a living area with sofa (can be converted into a sofa bed). A wooden staircase leads to the gallery with the sleeping area. From the entrance, however, you first enter the hallway with checkroom and the modern bathroom with walk-in shower. Access for guests In front of the vacation apartment is a loggia with seating and a partially covered barbecue area, which our guests are welcome to use by prior arrangement. Our village Hersdorf is a tiny village with about 400 inhabitants. Our castle is in a very quiet location. There are no shops in the village, no bakery and unfortunately no village pub. So bring something with you for breakfast the morning after your arrival. But there is fresh milk straight from the farmer. We will be happy to put a bottle of milk in the fridge for the first morning if you order in advance.As in many places in the Eifel, the mobile phone network is not ideal. So you won't have reception everywhere in the apartment.The nearest small supermarket, bakery, pubs, restaurants etc. can be found in Schönecken, about 4 km away.More restaurants, museums and a good ice cream parlor can be found in Prüm, about 8 km as the crow flies from Hersdorf.
