Follow the brown trout on 7 kilometers along the Rur route
The Rur route is a 7 km circular route through the picturesque "Gebirgsbach Rur" nature reserve. The route is only slightly uphill. However, roots and stones can be slippery in thawing weather and after rain.
The starting point is the parking lot at the Norbertus Chapel in the Rur valley between Kalterherberg and Mützenich on the L 106.
Route: Follow the hiking trail downstream on the right-hand side of the stream. The markings with the brown trout show the way. At nature point 1, cross the Rur on a wooden bridge and immediately turn right. After 3.5 km, you reach the B 258 at Dreistegen. Cross the Rur again here and walk upstream on the other side of the valley back to the parking lot. The route described can also be followed from the Dreistegen parking lot. This is just 500 m outside Monschau on the B 258.
Seven "nature points" along the trail are marked with numbers. What is there to discover at these points?
