Beschreibung

This circular trail offers around 9 kilometers of unique heathland, idyllic mixed forests and babbling brooks. The Heidbüchel nature reserve offers fantastic views over the Eifel heights and between April and May, the gorse hedges bloom in bright yellow. The "Historic School Trail" is marked by the hiking logo of the local community of Arft with a blue dot.

The trail starts and ends at the Raßberg parking lot at the winter sports facility in Arft.

From here, the Heidbüschel nature reserve comes into view relatively quickly.

The route continues downhill to the district of Netterhöfe. The small village is nestled between woods deep in the valley and is quickly crossed.

The path then climbs towards the Büschberg nature reserve.

From here you reach the village of Arft.

After crossing the village - the Eifelschenke, today's refreshment stop, used to be the school building - the trail continues above Arft past the "Heidetümpel" biotope on the Kindgen, back to the starting point.

Please download the gpx track and the map of the route in advance, as the signposting can be patchy in some areas.

To navigate using the gpx track, we recommend using the Rhineland-Palatinate tour planner app.

After downloading the app and clicking on the gpx track on this page, the correct route will automatically open in the app. By tapping on the three dots at the top right of the app display and confirming by clicking on the "Save offline" tab, you can navigate the route even without network reception.

Only stay on the marked paths. Especially in the fall, be aware that leaves lying on the ground can hide bumps, roots, etc. on the path.
