Description

Short circular hike with wide views over Wallenborn and the "Brubbel" - the spectacular cold water geyser as a special nature experience.


Before you set off...

It happens from time to time that sections of the trail have to be temporarily diverted or closed. Just take a look at www.gesundland-vulkaneifel.de/info/wege-info/.

If you go to Wallenborn, you will of course want to visit the geyser. Perfect for a nice little hike at the same time.

Just a few meters from the parking lot, at the church, this wonderful circular walk starts off through beautiful forests on wide, very easy-to-walk paths. After around 2.5 km, the path becomes very varied. It leads over meadow paths, past beautiful mixed forests, up to a fantastic viewpoint over the village of Wallenborn, which is nestled in a beautiful landscape.

Here, a swinging wooden bench invites you to take a short break. At the end of the tour, you can perhaps marvel at the geyser in action one more time on the way down to Wallenborn.

Insider tip: Take a look at the Wallenden Born: The seemingly calm geyser shoots a fountain of 9° C cold water into the sky every 30-45 minutes!

    The watercourses and their floodplains are a typical and ecologically valuable part of the Rureifel with a great wealth of flora and fauna. This diversity is thanks to the farmers who have mowed the meadows for centuries. When modern forms of farming close to villages made haymaking in the valleys no longer worthwhile, spruce trees were planted there. Efforts are currently being made in many places to restore the original floodplain vegetation. The characteristic terracing can be seen in many places along the hiking trail. This occurs when a river is no longer able to transport its debris and deposits it in the floodplain. If a river deepens again due to a change in climate, it cuts through the previously formed terrace. The formerly swampy valleys of the Eifel only acquired their function as traffic routes after the river regulation at the beginning of the 20th century.
