The “Kleiner Dauner” is a compact loop trail around Daun that showcases the town and its immediate surroundings from various perspectives. The route passes through Daun as well as the neighborhoods of Boverath and Gemünden, connecting residential areas, downtown sections, and quieter stretches surrounded by greenery.

Along the way, the Lieser River accompanies you for stretches. With the viaduct, the spa park and its Kneipp facility, the Wehrbüsch Chapel, and the Volcano Museum, several interesting stops are located directly on or right next to the route. The Hotzendrees is also a great spot for a short break right at the start.

The character of the trail is intentionally different from a classic hike through remote natural areas. Instead, you’ll get to know Daun, its neighborhoods, and the transitions between town and countryside on a manageable loop. Paved sections and paths through built-up areas are therefore just as much a part of the tour as quieter paths along the Lieser River and through green spaces.
