Follow in the footsteps of the Celts around Steineberg and Demerath.


Before you set off...

It happens from time to time that sections of the trail have to be temporarily diverted or closed. Just take a look at www.gesundland-vulkaneifel.de/info/wege-info/.

This beautiful circular tour starts at the ring wall of the Steineberger Ley. The trail takes you across a scenic plateau with wonderful views! From up here, you can see far into the Hunsrück and across the Eifel, and the path then leads you down to the Üssbach. You soon reach the Demerather Mühle mill.

Through the juniper heath, one of the two juniper nature reserves in the area, you reach the Demerather Drees. Mineral, carbonated and highly ferrous water flows in this well. Varied stream valleys and great views accompany this challenging tour.

12.2 km Geisert juniper heath

12.9 km Demerather Drees

15.0 km Steineberger Lay with relics of a Celtic settlement

Insider tip: Stop off at Demerather Drees to taste the mineral, carbonated and highly ferrous water!
