Barrierefreier Rundwanderweg Jungferweiher Ulmen
Beschreibung
This barrier-free circular trail offers a relaxing walk through the picturesque nature of the Eifel. Surrounded by the natural charm of the Jungferweiher pond, it invites you to linger and relax.
The approximately 3-kilometre circular hiking trail around the Ulmener Jungferweiher pond is just the thing for exploring the Vulkaneifel. The trail is barrier-free, making it suitable for people with limited mobility and families with baby carriages. Due to the slight difference in altitude, a relaxed walking experience is guaranteed for all visitors.
The circular trail leads around the Jungferweiher pond and through the nature reserve, which is home to a variety of animal and plant species. The area around the pond in particular is an important habitat for birds. The banks with their rushes provide ideal breeding grounds for many endangered bird species such as the common snipe and the meadow pipit. The Jungferweiher also serves as a resting place for migratory birds such as cranes and teals.
Audiovisual content can be discovered on a smartphone at the "pickpoints" along the trail. These are part of the digital discovery tour that leads through the whole of Ulmen. The pickpoints on the Jungferweiher barrier-free circular trail are also available in easy language and sign language.
On the south bank of the maar is the Ulmener Maar-Stollen, a tunnel that has connected the Jungferweiher with the Ulmener Maar for centuries.
