Our lovingly renovated and quaint vacation home, “Haus Messern,” is located in the beautiful Eifel village of Rittersdorf. Bitburg, known as the “beer town,” is just a 5-minute drive away or can be easily reached via the bike path (4 km). With a total area of approximately 120 m², the house features 6 bedrooms that can accommodate 10 people. Original wooden staircases lead up through 4 floors to 2 bathrooms, a game and reading room, and a living/dining room. In the games and reading room, guests have access to a selection of books, informational materials, and board games. The modern and unique furnishings create a cozy, comfortable atmosphere. Low ceilings, slanted walls and floors, and steep stairs contribute to the unique character of this Eifel house. The fully equipped kitchen features a ceramic cooktop, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator with freezer compartment, and dishwasher. There is also a separate laundry room. We offer free internet. In addition to free parking directly at the house, you can store your bicycles and motorcycles in our garage upon request. The surrounding area is ideal for cycling (bike path to Bitburg) and hiking.

We rent out two vacation apartments in the middle of Schmidt. On the edge of the Eifel National Park and in the immediate vicinity of the Rursee lake, you can experience nature right from the doorstep.

The tour begins and returns at the parish church St-Luzia of the 16th century . Through the town, along typical Eifel-houses, the route leads over the famous ``Jakobsweg`` to Messenberg. Whilst ascending, the view of the historic town of Welschbillig and Möhn can be seen. During the trail the "Jakobshut" offers shelter and resting possibilities. After the village of Träg, the path runs through a remote and romantic forest. Once the forest divides, glimpses of other villages can be seen. On the way back to the starting point, you will walk past contemporary witnesses from the past such as the Roman Langmauer.

The loop trail starts at the town hall in Fusenich. From there you walk through the lovely town towards Trierweiler. The path leads up through a quiet residential area towards the motorway. Along the ridge, with a view over wide meadows, you reach the viewpoint "auf der First". Shortly after the ridge the way leads down to Gelbach. The way leads back to the starting point through an adventurous forest.
