At the foot of the Falkenlay rock there are smaller stone age caves. Their settllement between 4,000 and 2,000 BC by Stone Age hunters was proven by corresponding finds. The caves can be reached via the "HeimatSpur Geo-Route", "HeimatSpur Wasserfall-Erlebnisroute" hiking trails.
There are small Stone Age caves at the foot of the Falkenlay, which have been found to have been inhabited by Stone Age hunters from 4,000 - 2,000 BC.
The Falkenlay is the oldest cinder cone in this volcanic system. During cinder eruptions, lava chunks of irregular shape and size, the cinders, are ejected from the volcano and accumulate around the vent, forming a characteristically steep and cone-shaped mountain. The crater wall, which is around 50 metres high, can still be seen today. This is where the caves, which were colonised in the Stone Age, can be found.
The caves can be reached via the ‘HeimatSpur Geo-Route’ and ‘HeimatSpur Wasserfall-Erlebnisroute’ hiking trails.
