Steinborner Drees
Daun
In the Steinborn district, only a few kilometres from the town of Daun, ferrous mineral water bubbles up from the spring in the centre of the village.
Steinborn "Drees" is a mineral water with a high iron and carbon dioxide content that bubbles abundantly from a well in the centre of Steinborn. Up to 6 litres per minute of refreshing mineral water with an average water temperature of 11.6° C can be emitted by the sodium-calcium-magnesium hydrogen carbonate "Säuerling" (acidulous water).
The water from the Steinborn "Drees" sprays up in a glass column and flows out through a tap, forming rust-coloured deposits.
The special feature of this fountain is a poem that is decorated on the elaborately designed fountain:
Someone comes and drinks at my place
Do you think he thanks you?
But I am just bubbling and jumping
And stay happy giving and jumping.
My life is so beautiful and simple
Always just giving.
Take your time to fill up on mineral water and linger under the pavilion before continuing your hike.
