The parish church of Waxweiler St. Johannes der Täufer is located in the middle of the village on a ledge between Prüm and Weiherbach on the main road.

also called Totenmaar [maar of the dead] The Weinfelder Maar is considered the "symbol of the Eifel melancholy". Gentle slopes, on which the Eifel gold - popularly known as "Besenginster"grows and shines in early summer, around the mostly turquoise shimmering water.

Every year before Easter, the first processions of the year come from the surrounding communities to Fraukirch near Thür in the open field. It is one of the oldest churches in the Eifel and Rhineland, based on its 1,200-year-old church tradition.
