Kunsthof Peter Ratz

Mechernich

For over ten years, the Krauts left their mark on the art scene with a highly regarded permanent exhibition at the Zeilgalerie Frankfurt and made the group known far beyond the city's borders. After the split of the artist group in 2002, Peter Ratz chose a new path and moved to the Eifel for personal reasons.

With the purchase of the former mayor's office in the small village of Eiserfey, he fulfilled his dream of combining living and working in the countryside. The former agricultural buildings were converted into a workshop and showroom where he presents his diverse works today.

According to customer requests, he creates functional and decorative objects such as stairs, fences, furniture, and lighting. Additionally, he develops intricate stainless steel figures as well as the so-called "Schrotties" – creative artworks made from discarded everyday and electronic waste, to which he breathes new life with much passion and humor.

Besides his artistic work, Peter Ratz is also culturally engaged: As a co-founder of Feykultur, a non-profit association was established that regularly organizes a large cultural festival around the farm complex and promotes music, art, and culture in the region.
